Dog Licenses

WI State Statute 174.05 requires dog(s) more than 5 months old be licensed each year.  A license year is from January 1st to December 31st each year.

Properties zoned residential or commercial can have 2 dogs; properties zoned agriculture can have 4 dogs. Any dogs over this limit will need to get a conditional use permit through the Town of Oakland plan committee.

Reminders to license your dog(s) will be put on the yearly property tax informational sheet that is included with your property tax bill.

Fees for licensing are:

Spayed/Neutered                           $10.00
Non Spayed/Neutered                 $15.00

All renewal licenses issued started April 1st will incur a $5.00 late fee.

All dog licenses require current proof of rabies vaccination certificate from your vet.  We don't need a copy of the certificate for in person licenses but please bring it with you as we need the information off it.   If paying by mail or using the drop box, include a copy of the rabies certificate, required payment and a self-addressed stamped envelope so we can send your license and paperwork back to you!

Please help keep the Town of Oakland a safe place for our residents (both two and four legged)!  Our office is usually the first place someone will call if your dog is found.
